5 Easiest Categories To Start With Minimalism

5 easiest categories to start with minimalism! It took us no longer than two weeks to sort them up. It was a boring work, but trust me, it will make your life much easier on the long run.

1. Clothes

Just focus on three key rules:
  1. Pick your color capsule/ theme (3-4 color combination best)
  2. Only include things that feel comfortable, every time you wear it.
  3. Every item should be able to be mixed and matched without thinking and blinking.
The rest, packed them into bags, put on one area and wait for 3 months, then donate. Try not to have more than 100 items (including bras, under wears, socks, etc) if you wanna up game it a bit.

2. Cooking Tools

Cooking is a simple daily action, and unles you work on food related field, chances are; you won't need more than these items:
  • 1 Non-stick wok/ high sides pan
  • 1 Stainless steel medium size sauce pan
  • 1 Set of tools (ladle, flipper, thong, scissor, 3 knives)
  • 1 Set of vegie strainer, mix bowl, cutting board
  • 1 Set of plate, cup, and basic cutleries/ person (up to 1 extra set + 3 plates as back up)
  • 1 GOOD QUALITY of rice cooker with few cooking modes, if rice is your daily essential.
Iron cast / carbon steel skillet can be a good investment, but it needs proper seasoning = extra maintenance effort + extra money (they also cost more).

Steel wok can be a better choice than non-stick, but your food will stick more = extra cleaning effort.

Good quality rice cooker last much longer and cook better taste rice.

Max 3 types of most useful knives; Santoku/ Chef's, Cleaver/ Nakiri, and Paring knives.

If possible, invest more on good quality tools, as these will be used daily for a long time, and will directly impact the overall health of your family.

I will discuss this deeper on @tinycafeathome Instagram page later.

3. Shoes & Sandals

  • 1 Pair of work/ formal shoes
  • 1 Pair of smart casual sandal
  • 1 Pair of boots (if you have winter season)
  • Max 2 pairs of different types of exercise shoes
Basically, those are all you really need. you may add 1 pair of another semi formal shoes for back up, and you'll be good for years.

The keys here are:
  1. They should fit your outfits' color theme.
  2. Invest on GOOD QUALITY and comfort, instead of on brands.

4. Books & Paper Documents

I know, I also love the smell and the feel of physical books, but these days, I only buy and keep few that I really love. The rest, I read them on e-book or audio book forms. I also scanned all of paper documents (including health records), save them digitally on cloud, and only keep the physical documents for the ones that needed on legal terms.

The keys here are;
  1. Categorize your digital documents neatly
  2. Keep max 20 lists of books to read at a time.

5. Toiletries & Skin Care

Always choose only good quality products that work amazingly.
  • 1 Shower gel/ shower bar (I love bar with scrub)
  • 1 Shampoo + conditioner
  • 1 Face soap with scrub
  • OPTIONAL
  • 1 Face toner / face mist
  • 1 - 5 Face serums, depends on your skin problem
  • 1 Face oil (for Gua Sha and lymphatic massage)
  • 1 Face and body moisturizer
  • 1 Face & body sun block cream

May this inspires you to have a try on minimalism. Don't worry, you can always go back to your old lifestyle, should you find minimalism as unfit, although I've never find such case on my circle.

Mostly, they complained first at the works (let's be honest, no one loves sorting, cleaning & tidying up things 😅), only to then adapt it as a lifestyle once the feeling of freedom, clarity and flexibility, have hit them. Lol.

I will share what are the hardest things to be tackled on other post. 🤭 For the cooking tools part, I will discuss further later on @tinycafeathome, that's where I talk about food and cooking mostly.

Now

H ello. You are on my Now page and these are the things that I'm currently focusing on: - Healthy, balanced, and mindful living is my first priority now. - I was hospitalized for a month from August - September 2022. Some viruses attacked a part of my brain and brain stem which causes imbalances on my motoric gravity, plus I had a gout attack for the first time in my life. My infusion had to be sewn on my neck cause the meds need to be inserted through the central vein for three weeks straight. I promised myself to never be that sick ever again, and determined to change my whole lifestyle, including to prioritize myself, my health, and my peace first. Since then, I have lost 22kgs, have been maintaining my uric acid level below 5.5, manage my cholesterol level down to 146, maintain my normal fast glucose level at 85, and been eating, exercising, and living healthier, plus doing so many changes in life including the way I sleep and raising my water intake level. - Creating intentio

What If Word Is Not The Real Language ?

What if word is not the real language? And what if the basic importance of communication is neither about who is the sender or how it was being sent? Aside from love which is hard to be measured, music and art are two of the few fields and disciplines in life that have proven those two questions as very relatable and argumentative. With music, we have seen many cross boundaries musicians who don't understand each others' (word-y) languages, collaborated and jammed together nicely. Classical, Jazz, and Swing are among few genres that put forward on those wordless language heavily, according to their own principles on each of their own disciplines. We can even enjoy music without really understand the lyrics or even without lyrics at all. With art, we've seen how the works of artists who have passed away hundred years ago still resound heavily to us now. Even without really knowing about the background of the artists or their works, we're still able to enjoy them and dist

10 Things We Don't Buy Anymore As Minimalists

10 things we don't buy anymore as minimalists, and few things that we still buy to replace the old ones. 1. Physical Book  Not only physical book takes spaces, most of the physical books that available here are also outdated and strongly curated. We can only grow when we learn to understand different perspectives and see things from different angles, even from the one that we might disagree with. To read the same books that everyone reads and only cater to certain perspectives, certainly won't help us to grow. We also have to get the latest knowledge and facts to get better results in everything. I find e-books fill those needs ad gaps better for me, while my husband choose audio books, lately. 2. Perfume If you should, you won't need more than one bottle that will last for 1-2 years.  3. Physical Music I use Spotify.  4. Coffee Machine & Refill 1 French Press and 1 manual dripper do the works well until now. 5. Souvenirs We don't buy for ourselves, and not for othe
